Frances R. Aparicio is Professor Emerita at Northwestern University, where she directed the Latina and Latino Studies Program for eight years. She has published extensively on U.S. Latinx popular music, poetry, and language, and is currently finishing a book manuscript about Marc Anthony, the Latino singer. In the last three decades, she played a critical role in the founding of the Latino Studies Journal, was a member of the founding committee of the Latino Studies Association, and assumed administrative leadership as Director of various Latino Studies Programs in the Midwest. As newly elected President of LSA, she commits to continue advocating for the field, its community of scholars, and the alternative, decolonial visions we create for our students.
