Assistant Professor in Latin American Cultural Studies, Brandeis University
The Hispanic Studies program in the Romance Studies Department at Brandeis University seeks to appoint a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in Latin American Cultural Studies to begin in the 2023-2024 academic year. This position is subject to budget approval. The field of specialization is open, with the expectation that the successful candidate will be able to develop courses across historical periods and geographies. We are particularly interested in attracting scholars whose research and teaching centers around the Caribbean, Mexico, and/or Central America as well as those whose work bridges traditional fields, such as Latin American and Latinx studies, or Iberian and Latin American studies. Demonstrated scholarship and teaching across textual, visual, performative, and media-based cultural expressions will be given preference, as faculty at Brandeis are expected to offer classes that contribute to other programs in the University. The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential for excellence as a scholar and a teacher and will have the PhD in hand by fall 2023.Brandeis is a Research I institution with a strong liberal arts program and an emphasis on teaching excellence.
