Assistant Professor, English, tenure-track, Hispanic American Literature

 

Position Description

The Department of English seeks a dynamic and creative scholar specializing in Hispanic American literature (including Latino/a, Chicano/a, Mexican American, Border, and related ethnic literatures). In addition to effective teaching of literature at the undergraduate and graduate levels, the successful candidate will demonstrate a strong research agenda in poetry, prose, or drama in this literature, develop and maintain a successful publication record, contribute to course design, direct graduate students’ research, and engage in service to the department and university. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a willingness to seek external funding in support of research.

Qualifications

The successful applicant must hold the Ph.D. degree by the start date of the appointment.  Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish is required.  Previous teaching experience is preferred.  Applicants for full-time teaching positions will be asked to provide a statement of religious faith demonstrating understanding and compatibility with Baylor’s Christian mission.
